Sweaty Survey & Vitacost Reviews

A few weeks ago I saw this survey from Kim at My Healthy Nest  and thought it would be super fun to fill out!
Her super sweaty questions were:

1. Which are you more responsive to during a workout: positive encouragement or peer pressure?
Definitely positive encouragement.  For example, I feel really self conscious at Crossfit but having a coach tell me I'm getting stronger and giving me a high five makes me feel awesome and keeps me coming back!
2. What’s something on your fitness bucket list?
Running a full marathon is (which I'm signed up for in the fall!) and also getting that elusive Boston qualifying time one day.  I'd also really like to run Big Sur after reading about it recently!
3. Would you rather be in a group fitness class that’s overwhelmingly crowded or awkwardly empty?
I hate feeling awkward but I'm going to have to go with the empty class. I hate when it's crowded and I have to be super conscious of not bumping into people. It takes away from my focus and makes me feel anxious.

4. Rank these activities in order of your preference/interest (favorite to least favorite): running, Zumba, yoga, Cross Fit, swimming, hiking, biking, pilates, kickboxing, sports that involve balls, spinning, weight lifting.
Running, Crossfit, Yoga, weight lifting, spinning, sports with balls, pilates, biking, hiking (I don't do this enough!), kickboxing, and Zumba. I tried zumba once and it didn't feel it was a good enough workout and I felt anxious trying to keep up!
5. Would you rather work out next to someone with major B.O. or someone who grunts constantly?
Oh gosh, I suppose grunting. B.O. is really distracting, ugh.
6. What’s your standard workout wear? (T-shirt/tank top, shorts/capris?)
I love tanks now that I have baby biceps so usually a  dry-wick tank and black capris.
7. Favorite post-workout snack?
Sometimes a smoothie or anything involving banana and peanut/almond butter.
8. Which are your strongest muscles? Most neglected?
My strongest muscles are probably my legs (not sure which exactly) from running and my most neglected are probably my chest muscles. I'm working on building strength though!
9. Would you rather be trained by Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper? (Or a favorite celeb trainer of your choice!)
Probably Jillian Michaels because she is so tough and I love her quote "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable!”
10. What’s one thing you’ve learned about fitness or your body in the last year?
I've learned that my body is so much stronger than I think.  I think constantly pushing myself amazes me because I never know how much stronger it can be!
Also I was recently asked to review some products from Vitacost which is a great online store to buy vitamins, supplements, and other health foods since some of those items can be expensive in stores! I had previous done a review with them and this time I'll share some of the products I really liked.
I have oily, acne prone skin so like keeping face wipes around in case I'm lazy and don't feel like washing my face and taking my makeup off at night.   These Blum Naturals wipes are individually wrapped and use organic tea tree oil to remove makeup and made my skin feel really clean and soft.

Also I am a huge coffee and tea drinker and always on the look out for new brands to try out.  I got a bag of this Kona coffee Gourmet Blend which was a really nice tasting dark roast coffee. I used it in my french press so I really got that strong coffee taste!

Lastly, I've been trying to take more BCAAs because all I read is how amino acids are important for muscle recovery  when working out.  They sent me a sample container of the Nutrex BCAA Drive Black.
Vitacost-BCAA
It apparently has 2:1:1 ratio of the amino acids l-leucine, l-isoleucine, and l-valine.  I have noticed I'm less sore when I regularly take them.  I think I prefer a powder version though because the recommended serving is 5 of these big tablets before a workout which seems like a lot to take!
Anyways if you are looking for another place to buy some supplements, check out Vitacost. They offer free shipping with orders over $49 which is a pretty good deal.
Note: I was not financially compensated for this post.  I did receive the aforementioned prodcuts in exchange for this review.

  1. Love your answers!! I'm with you on the more hiking thing--wish it was more convenient! And Zumba...meh. :)

My husband's obsessed with Kona coffee. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to strong coffee, but I do love it french pressed! I don't understand how it comes out so much smoother, but it really does.

I've never tried amino acids, but I've heard great things. That BCAA label is pretty intense, haha.

    Have a great week Lauren!!

    1. Thanks, yeah I just don't get a chance to drive out and hike somewhere since I live in the city. French press is my favorite way to make coffee in the AM (and portion controlled!)

  5. Love this! I filled it out as well. Feel free to take a look - http://frumpy-to-fab.blogspot.com/2013/05/q.html

I agree with you at how crazy it is that your body can do so much stuff. I never would have guessed my body could do half the things I accomplish.
