Running into Fall with Lululemon {gear review}

Disclaimer: Lululemon Baltimore offered me a complimentary outfit for review purposes. As always all thoughts & opinions are my own.

As much as I love lots of different running gear, there are always some pieces that end up being worn the most. The couple Lululemon tops and tanks I have are an example of that.  I have only splurged on pieces from Lululemon every so often, but have been impressed in the comfort and quality I've found. I've actually worn Lululemon capris or skirts for all of the 4 marathons I've run-no chafing at all!

I dare you to go try things on in that store and leave the store empty-handed! However I gained a lot of respect for the brand after running Lululemon's Seawheeze Half Marathon this summer and seeing what an amazing event they put on.

When I was asked to review a couple piece of running gear for my local Lululemon store, of course I jumped at the chance. By the way, the Lululemon in Baltimore, Harbor East is a great store with fabulous employees and local ambassadors, in case you were wondering.

With the Baltimore Running Festival coming up and the weather still a little bit variable, it was tough to choose what outfit I wanted to review. I run 'hot' (#thesweatylife) and am still loving wearing tanks so I chose out a Run Swiftly tank (MRP $58) in one of the newer colors for Fall, a mixed black/sapphire blue shade . I always think warm colors for Fall but since blue is one of my favorite colors, I love adding this almost midnight blue shade as a Fall favorite.

I love the Run Swiftly material because it feels soft, lightweight and comfortable as well as wicks sweat well.

One of my favorite features is that it is prevents you from smelling bad due to the X-STATIC® which inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. The color is a deep blue that is perfect for Fall plus it has that Swiftly tech that I love.

Now I have a couple of sports bras from Lululemon that I wear on a casual basis because they are cute and strappy, but nothing really for serious working out. I was recommended the new Circuit Breaker sports bra (I got it in black) to try out because it was designed for high-impact workouts like running and provided medium support (it's recommended for a B/C cup). The Circuit Breaker bra (MRP $58)has Lycra and their signature Luxtreme® fabric to provide stretchy, comfortable, and wicking support.

I LOVE it! The cut is flattering and doesn't leave anything hanging out or rub awkwardly in any places. I am not a lady who needs much support up top, but find that is supportive, comfortable, and offers enough coverage while still being stylish.

Lastly for bottoms I had so many choices that it was a difficult decision. In the end I was in love with trying this new Outrun tight (MRP $118) in the new awesome print 'power luxtreme spray jacquard white black/black'. The print looks like it is spray painted on and even has a little texture when you touch it. I'm a fan of flashy running clothes so I love this print but also love that it's neutral in color and still can match lots of tops (for those days when I try hard to match!).

The Outrun tight is fitted but comfortable with a high waist. It also offers reflectivity, lots of pockets for storage on the 7/8" tight. I'm a bit shorter at 5'4, so the tights length is nice because they hit me at the top of my ankles and aren't too long. I also love the mesh detail on the back of the calf area that is just enough detail because sometimes I find that mesh doesn't last well through heavy use of washes.

The tights move great, wick sweat well, and offer coverage but feel light.  I love the high waist, and there is no tugging to pull my adjust as I run.

Side note, pretending to be a running model for these photos for Lululemon-Baltimore was tough. I was not super great at running slow and gracefully or posing, haha. Thanks to Meg from Lululemon for the great photos!

Overall, I am loving the new Lululemon apparel for the Fall. The new patterns and colors are fun yet chic. The brand is always trying to improve its tech materials to be more functional for ladies on the run or on the mat!

Do you run in Lululemon apparel? What's your favorite fall color?

  1. The pants are my absolute favorite especially because of the pockets!

  2. Those pants are AMAZING! The only lulu item I currently own is a sportsbra that was discontinued and then re-introduced but it just wasn't the same and I'm downright distraught.
    Fall colour: jewel tones, especially emerald green.

  3. Those tights are fabulous! I'm not a huge fan of Lulus because they're outrageously expensive...and the two running pants I own have pilled terribly, even though I never put them in the dryer. To be fair, I have owned them for around 8 years so they are definitely durable. It could be that 8 years is a lifetime in terms of strides (forgive the pun) made in technical fabrics.
