{Friday Favorites} Seawheeze, Rio Olympics, and Acai Bowls

I meant to write a post for Thinking Out Loud Thursdays, but since it's Friday I'll make it a mash-up and talk about my favorite things of the week.

Seawheeze Half Marathon

So I ended up getting an entry like a month out from the race to run with Team Nuun so now I'm FREAKING RUNNING the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver next weekend. It sells out every year and you get a limited edition printed pair of shorts with entry, plus I've heard Vancouver is amazing. The excitement and the hype cannot be contained, especially because a million people have asked me about it in the past week. If you're going and have any suggestions or tips, let me know in the comments or email me (breathedeeplyandsmileblog@gmail.com). I'd love to meet up with runners too!

Rio Olympics 2016

So tonight is the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and I'm pumped! I LOVE watching the Olympics and tuning into the main events like gymnastics and swimming as well as some more obscure events that I don't normally get a chance to see. I love the national pride, the athleticism, and the stiff competition in the events. OBVIOUSLY I'm hugely excited for the men's and women's marathon event as well as other track and field events. I got an awesome shirt supporting the Challenged Athlete Foundation with the names of Team Nuun and Nuun Elite Olympians as well as my copy of Runner's World magazine with my girl Shalane on the cover this week!

I also FREAKED out when I saw that one of my running idols Shalane liked my Instagram photo because I'm a huge fangirl like that.

You can find the Olympics Track & Field schedule here- I'm super excited to see the men's and women's steeplechase and the marathon events. Obviously cheering for Shalane and Meb and everyone from Team U.S.A. This video of the U.S. Olympic swimmers doing their own version of carpool karaoke is great. Shout-out to Baltimore's own Michael Phelps!

Under Armour Summer Sample Sale

I just laughed with someone at NP this week how with Baltimore being the headquarters of Under Armour, I always see people in the same workout clothes as me. Under Armour had their huge summer sample sale with lots of gear and clothes heavily discounted so of course I went and managed to have some self-control but picked up a few things including another pair of their winter running tights and their running underwear. I have so much freaking Under Armour workout gear, #BaltimoreProblems

Acai Bowls

Last week after a solo long run followed by my 5K group coaching I treated myself to a Hawaiian acai bowl from Pure Raw Juice Bar in Federal Hill, Baltimore because it had been so long. A cold, fruit-filled acai bowl was an AMAZING idea after a hot and sweaty morning of running.  Also acai berries have lots of antioxidants and good stuff in them so it's a healthy breakfast treat.  If only my bank account could afford having them all the time... You can also make your own like I did here

Challenge Dash Virtual Race

Also if you are looking for a fun virtual race with a great charity and sweet swag, you should register for the Challenge Dash from FitFam before it's too late.  It's a fun virtual race where you'll get swag mailed to you and you can do the race on your own or with friends, as well as choose your distance, and then take photos and enter to win prizes from the awesome sponsors including Oiselle, Garmin, and Ciele.

  2. SO jealous you're going to Seawheeze! I wish I was going this year, but I have this fear of commitment thing and never bite the bullet and just go. You're going to have so much fun and the sample sale there is supposed to be amazing!

Alsoooo amazing that Shalane liked your insta. That's how you know you've made it.

  4. I actually own very little Under Armour, probably because I order all my stuff online. That's awesome that you're running the seawheeze half! Sounds like a great race!

    1. Ah that's surprising but probably why. I really like a lot of Under Armour's running gear.

  5. How fun that you get to go to SeaWheeze! Can I say I'm a little jealous? My sister and I were in Seattle last year and we loved that area of the country!

  6. So exciting that you're doing SeaWheeze! I'm looking forward to hearing about it - it sounds like such a cool event. And I'm totally with you on barely being able to contain my excitement for the Olympic marathon. Getting to watch the Trials, Boston, AND the Olympic marathon on TV all in one year?! Best year EVER. Hahaha.
