Chicago Marathon Training Weeks 5&6 Recap

I just saw today that we only have 63 days until Chicago. What?!? I've just been chugging along in my training, getting in those long runs. Baltimore has been having it's usual summer weather this past month, hot and HUMID. I finally have a few weeks off from school and am soaking in every last day of it.  Here's a recap of weeks 5 & 6 of my Chicago Marathon training.

Lows
Still a little bit of travelling but need to add some yoga into the mix and find time to foam roll and stretch out, especially as my mileage increases.  I was happy to get in a workout on Monday Week 6 even while I was in Atlantic City with my family.

Highs
Really happy that I've still been crushing my runs and getting long run miles in with the heat and humidity. Besides my tempo run in Week 6 when I waited too long to get out and start my run, I've been good about trying to get my runs in early in the AM or if not, later in the evening as the sun starts to set. I haven't even had much of a problem waking up at or before 5 AM to get long run miles in, as long as I can fit in a nap afterwards!

How do you deal with the warm weather and running? Do you run early or late (or indoors!)?

I’m also linking up with PattyMarcia, and Erika for Tuesdays on the Run and  AnnmarieNicoleJen, and Michelle for Wild Workout Wednesday!

  1. Awww miss you already! Can't believe that was only just over a week ago! Nothing beats #ChurchofEC and sweating with you and all of my Baltimore friends. Way to get in that mileage! The heat down there is brutal.

  2. We've had some miserable long run weather around here lately, too. I keep telling myself it'll make me stronger once it cools off - hopefully I'm right! Or, more accurately, hopefully I'm right about it cooling off eventually - like, maybe say right around mid-September through early October :)

  3. Great job with your training!! I still need to check out November Project in Philly, of course when I lived practically next door to the Art Museum, I never joined them! This heat and humidity has really been brutal...I'm doing the best I can and not trying to think about my slower pace.

  4. Wait what is ChurchofEC??
You have been doing great in your workouts in this heat! I too run first thing in the morning. I find that it is somewhat cooler and before life gets in the way after work. Glad to have you back in the WW! :)

    1. Thanks so much! Church of EC is the name of a spin class with my fave instructor EC-it's called church because it's Sunday morning and includes lots of wisdom!

  6. Great job on your 16 miles. Especially since it was super hot. I need to start incorporateing more yoga. Ever since my trial ended I haven't done it. I need to foam roll more regularly too.
