Fitness Survey Linkup and Marathon Training Week 2

Hello all, Happy Wednesday! It feels especially great today, even though it's raining here, because tomorrow is a holiday! Anyways here's a little update on my marathon training.

The Road to 26.2 -Marathon Training Week 2

Tuesday was a speedwork session where we ran a 2 mile time trial to help us find our marathon goal pace using the McMillan Calculator where I found out I was in the second fastest group of people-go me! I did crossfit twice during the week and then got in another strength and HIIT session on Friday.

Saturday is long run day and a group of us roughly around the same pace ran a nice route from McHenry Row up Charles Street to around JHU and back down St. Paul.  The weather wasn't too hot, just really humid.  It has been really nice getting miles in with a group of people to keep up with and talk to so I definitely think I'm committing to the training group. I bought a hot pink hydration belt from Marshalls and have been filling that up with Nuun for my long runs. I definitely need to drink more water on Fridays though in preparation, especially as we start to build miles.

Sunday I got in a slow 5K for a recovery run after a day of eating all that boardwalk food.   I definitely need to work on stretching and foam rolling more, especially with cross-training.

A fellow Sweat Pink Ambassador, Sara from She cooks, She crafts, She Runs is having a Fitness Survey Linkup  here today so I thought I'd join in the fun!

Fitness Survey!

1.  What did you eat for breakfast?
Breakfast is the best! Today I was in a rush so I had an egg over easy, an orange, and a slice of Ezekiel raisin bread with PB&J and half a banana. I also snacked on a handful of Barbara's cinnamon puffins while I was cooking my egg.

2.  How much water do you drink a day?
I try to drink at least 64 oz but always aim for 96 (3 of my Nalgene bottles full!)

3.  What is your current favorite workout?

As you know, I'm currently marathon training, and I've really been enjoying the speed workouts. I've never worked with a training group or coach or anything so having to do time trials and mile repeats is a new challenge
.
4.  How many calories do you eat a day?
Eh, tracking calories is no fun and stressful. Maybe around 1500 during the week? During the work week, I eat three meals a day plus two snack mini meals and whatever else I find myself snacking on.  The weekends are more up in the air.

5.  What are your favorite healthy snacks?
I love Greek yogurt with berries, anything with nut butters, baby carrots and hummus, KIND bars and Quest bars (older review here if you don't know what those are!).

6.  What do you usually eat for lunch?
It's usually a big random salad with lots of veggies, strawberries, and a protein.  Otherwise I'm eating leftovers from dinner!

7.  What is your favorite body part to strength train?
I love training my shoulders because I like growing those baby muscles and getting some definition there.

8.  What is your least favorite body part to strength train?
I suck at squats and need to practice them.  I think my runner's legs are too sore so I need to start foam-rolling more!

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?
I'm going to call it junk food because I don't like the good/bad mentality with food-it's negative and stressful. I love a good burger and french fries, real thin crust pizza, and cupcakes.  I have a total sweet tooth!

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?
I'm kind of a crazy vitamin lady and take about 8 supplements a day including a multivitamin, omegas, probiotics, and vitamin D. I probably pee most of them out but I figure why not!

11. How often do you eat out?
I'm a total foodie so I love eating out and trying new restaurants. I'd say probably 1-2 times a week usually, sometimes more depending on if there happens to be a bunch of special occasions.

12. Do you eat fast food?
I rarely eat real fast food-like Wendy's chicken nuggets and a frosty (so bad but tastes so good).  I eat a lot of kinda fast food like Chipotle and Panera because it's yummy and there are some healthier options.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?
My boyfriend has been an awesome race supporter. My friend Norah was recently at my last two races in DC, and I loved having her scream for runners and cry with me after I finished.

14. Do you have a gym membership?
I belong to a gym around the block but am cancelling it for the time being because it's too expensive right now.  I belong to a crossfit box also so that's my gym for non-running days.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
Eh probably around 6 hours of sleep. I'm working on getting more because I definitely need around 8 and would feel so much better with more sleep!

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?
I don't believe in cheat days. I treat myself to things such as real pizza and indulge my sweet tooth.. I believe in the healthy balance theory because there is no good food or bad food. Eat what you want in moderation!

17. Do you drink alcohol?
Yes, I think life is too short and adult beverages are fun. I really only drink a couple times a week maybe, now that I'm old, haha.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?
No, sadly. I've always wanted some people I could call up to workout with. I just started marathon training with a group so now I have some run buddies which is really nice!

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
The best thing is that I feel so much better! It's tremendously helped my IBS and tummy troubles along with my anxiety. It's so great to feel strong and fit. Running makes me happy!

Running makes me jump for joy!

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

Hm, the last healthy thing was probably taking my multivitamins this morning and eating breakfast!

21.  What are your favorite shoes to work out in?
Depends on the activity but have been running lately in my hot pink Brooks Pureflows. I love the color and the way they feel.

22.  Photo of your favorite workout outfit
Well I don't have a photo of the whole outfit, but I love a couple pair of black capri length workout pants and a bright colored Under Armour tank I have.  My favorite fitness clothing piece is probably this Under Armour half zip from a Charm City Run 2012 Sole of the City 10k!

Feel free to fill out the survey on your blog and link up or pick a random question from it and answer it in the comments.

If you can't decide,   "What did you eat for breakfast?" since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day :)
