Healthy Living Survey

It's Monday and I'm still working on my St. Patty's Day half marathon recap so you are getting a survey post that was fun for me to fill out!

I found this one over on Adrienne's blog who found it on Mindy's blog ,and thought I’d share it with you. I enjoy a lot of treats in moderation, but I'm very conscious of my health and choices so that's what counts in my book!
1. What did you eat for breakfast?
I had 1/2 cups of egg whites with TJ's shredded brussel sprouts and ketchup and 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean with chia seeds, hemp seeds, TJ's coconut chips, and some vanilla almond milk. I couldn't decide between sweet and savory today :)
2. How much water do you drink a day?
I always aim for 96 oz but usually only make it to 64 oz. I'm trying to get better about it.  Having a 32 oz Nalgene bottle helps because I only need to drink a couple of those bad boys to reach my goal.
3. What is your current favorite workout?
Running because lately I've needed it at stress relief, and I can go for a run whenever I want. I'm going to try to get back into hot yoga when I can scrounge together some money because that's relaxing.

4. How many calories do you eat a day?
I track but am conflicted between eating too little or too much so probably around 1500 during the week I'd say.I'm way more lax on the weekends due to eating out and some alcoholic drinks, and being on less of a schedule. I track mostly to keep an eye on what I'm eating or otherwise I'd just snack all day.  Also logging can cause me a lot of anxiety and makes food a lot less enjoyable if everything little thing must be logged. It's also tedious when a lot of it feels like estimating if it's not prepackaged or processed food.
5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?
Nuts, anything with coconuts, protein bars  apples and almond butter, Greek yogurt and berries.
6. What do you usually eat for lunch?
It depends. I've gotten better at meal prepping food so usually a salad with some salmon burgers, chicken, or tuna on top or leftovers from dinner.
7. What is your favorite part of the body to strength train?
I love strength training my upper body, especially my shoulders because they seem to grow the quickest on me.  I'm trying to get those boulder shoulders, haha!
8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?
Probably legs. They are the most sore due to all my running and mostly because I always forget to stretch and foam roll like a bad runner.
9. What are your “bad” food cravings?
Well I'm a sugar addict but probably the usual-cupcakes, chocolate, peanut butter, and pizza. I love french fries but haven't really been craving them.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?
I take too many. I've been playing around with lots of different ones but the mainstays are multivitamin, Vit D, Vit B, omegas, probiotics, and biotin.  I also occasionally use preworkouts such as Cellucor C4 or Fitmixer aminos for recovery.
11. How often do you eat out?
My boyfriend and I are foodies so we do eat out at least 2x a week.  I've been better at not being afraid to change my order to make it more healthy or what I feel like eating.  I'll order the burger but get a side salad instead of fries or lately have been craving seafood a lot and asking for sauces on the side.
12. Do you eat fast food?
I know it's bad for you and honestly not that good but every once in a while I'll have some Wendys. Panera doesn't count as fast food for me because it's so delicious and can be customized to be healthy for you!
13. Who is your biggest supporter?
My boyfriend, who probably wishes I chose a hobby that didn't include early morning races. He does love post-race brunches though :)

14. Do you have a gym membership?
Yes, I use the treadmill and weights and like occasionally taking the bootcamp or spin classes. It takes me five minutes to walk there so that's a HUGE added bonus.
15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
This is one thing I MAJORLY need to work on. I need 7-8 but usually end up with around 6. It makes getting up feel awful and causes a major lack of morning workouts!
16. Do you have a “cheat” day?
I don't like the use of cheat day because it adds a guilt factor that causes me a lot of anxiety. It's hard for me to plan when I'm going to eat something not so healthy, and honestly, I do it a lot more than I probably should. I eat what I want in moderation and focus on balancing out my eating with lots of water, veggies, and sweat sessions.
DCJumboSlice
Okay, this is a once a year DC Jumbo slice, definitely not a monthly indulgence!
17. Do you drink alcohol?
Yes,in moderation. I like yummy cocktails or having a beer after a race!

18. Do you have a workout buddy?
Nope, mostly fly solo. Sometimes I run with running groups, but I'm awkward at trying to make friends!
19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
I think feeling more in control about what goes on with my body and even though I struggle with my body image, I like feeling strong after races or challenging workouts.
20. What was the last healthy thing you did?
I went to the gym for a 10K run for the Jelly Bean Virtual Race and ate a big healthy buffalo chicken salad for dinner!
Now it’s your turn, answer one of the questions above about your own healthy living, or answer them on on your own blog!

  1. We have very similar tastes in healthy snacks! I always try to have some almonds or nut butter on hand! Lately, I've been eating a lot of sunflower butter. So delicious!

  2. Thanks for the link back to my blog! I'm awkward about making friends too, ha, totally get you on that one! I also struggle with my body image, even though I have made all these healthy changes. I noticed you said you take a multivitamin, I give this spill to all my mv friends. You should look in to Juice Plus, it's so much better that mv's. It's made a lot of positive changes for my health. Look in to it, let me know if you're open to trying it. The link to it is on my page :)

  3. I am right there with you - I HATE training legs but really kind of like training my upper body! :) I think I hate doing legs because I do so much cardio that I think, HEY they don't need even MORE work!! But, yes, yes they do! lol
