Things I'm Loving This Month

I'm still really been enjoying my break and either have been spending my days at work or sleeping in and running errands so life hasn't been too exciting, which is fine by me. Here's some of my favorite things from this past month so far.

1. I still have one week before school starts again. It's been marvelous having so much less stress plus work to do while I've been on break. I'm still working some but am really not on as strict of a schedule as I will be which has been nice. I'll miss it for sure.

2. I've been going to Corepower Yoga since I've had their two-week free trial and really like it. I can't really afford their month to month rate, especially because I just joined another gym, but I'd love to buy a class pack and do yoga at least once a week. I'm also a Momentum Jewelry ambassador again for 2016 and just got some sweet new goodies from them like this bracelet.

3. My boyfriend finally sealed up the windows in your apartment with plastic so that it no longer feels like an icebox. I'm still always in a hoodie and wrapped in blankets, but it helps SO much.

4. When it's a rainy Friday night and you decide to stay in to watch movies and order pizza (which you have been craving). I re-watched Wild and of course I want to go hiking and exploring the PCT as soon as possible just not by myself (because of snakes, bugs, and creepers).

Fancier pizza with prosciutto, olives, and roasted red peppers on top. Salty goodness.
5. I have been slowly adding more races to my spring race schedule including the Disney World Star Wars Half Marathon in April. I'm a bit of a Disney race hater because I feel like it so much more expensive than it has to be and part of me feels like the attention is really on the swag and less so the running. However I LOVE Star Wars and am also using it as an excuse to go visit my sister who will be working down there through the spring  I'll definitely be writing more about it afterwards and how I feel about the whole RunDisney experience so stay tuned!

6. I've also been getting ready to coach my first training group with Charm City Run. Last year I volunteered as an assistant coach in the spring for the Baltimore Women's Classic training group, but now I'm going to be head honcho. I'm so nervous and excited!

I'll be training a 5K group that runs from January to March and then the BWC group from May to June. The info session for my training group will be this Saturday, January 23rd at 9:30 AM at Charm City Run-Baltimore.

If you are in the Baltimore area I'd love to see you or your friends who have a goal of running your first race or just want some support in training for a spring 5K.  Be sure to check out all of the awesome Charm City Run training groups at all of the store locations.

7. I bought my boyfriend a pasta maker for Christmas, and it's also turned out to be a gift for myself in disguise. While everyone is all Whole30 or New Year's dieting, I''m over here just eating lots of fresh pasta because #carbloadingforlife. The fact that it's homemade makes it better for me than boxed pasta, right?

Things I'm Loving This Month-homemade pasta

What are some of your favorite things this month? Any favorite workouts, meals, or plans for spring?

  1. Carbloading for life. Seriously. I definitely ate pasta mista last night instead of the salad I was planning on eating because #yolo. Also you just reminded me that I NEED to seal my windows. Maybe i'll just wait until my mom gets here in a few weeks...

  3. I'm so jealous that you get to do the Star Wars race! I would love to do it within a few years. My spring will be full with final presentations/exams, graduating, and MOVING!

  4. Yes Disney races are so expensive, but it's worth it. They put on great races.
I have been wanting to get one of those momentum bracelets. Will you be offering a discount code since you are an ambassador?

    1. I think they did away with ambassador discounts BUT they have a code good through 1/31 "KeepYourMomentum2016" to save 15% off an order!

  5. I just did Star Wars in CA, and I had a pretty good time. I don't feel like I need to do it again. I agree the attention is on some strange aspects. I've found it better if I don't look at the Disney runner groups or the RunDisney Facebook page. Some of the complaints there just boggle my mind.

    1. Yeah I'm not looking at anything. I don't see myself doing lots of Disney races in the future!

  8. It would not do for me to have a pasta maker at home! OMG I think I could have it every night, that dish looks amazing! Just getting back from the Disney run and while I did have a wonderful time, it is so expensive. We had to save and save to be able to go!

  12. I've given those momentum bracelets as gifts but have yet to purchase one for myself. My daughter and I started racing at the runDisney races, but nearly 5 years later we have improved and branched out. They are expensive and be sure to put in a proof of time or you will be put in the last corral with the walkers. We love the Disney races with the caveat that they have gotten waaay too expensive for what you get. I ran the Boston Marathon at $185 last year and the NYC Marathon (I believe it was $255). Of course I was lucky to qualify for both, but the price of those races is cheap with what you get. And of course Boston.....it would be worth twice that price.

    1. I love the bracelets-you need to get one! I agree that they keep raising the prices but since people pay, I don't see them changing their ways anytime soon. I totally agree about Boston too (someday!).

  13. Oooooh I love the new bracelet! And I'm excited about your Disney race! You're totally right that it's all about the swag, but the costumes do make it super fun!

  14. I've never done a Disney race and to be honest I don't really care if I do or don't, but with that said, I would LOVE to do the Star Wars one! We are all about Star Wars in our house!

  15. I think you'll find Disney goes the extra mile with their races. They entertain you on course like no other. Star Wars will be awesome! To me it's the staying there, eating there and getting there that is expensive. The race fee is nominal compared to that. I remember seeing Wild and thought Reese Witherspoon did an excellent job. I like the Momentum line of jewelry. Thanks for linking with us Lauren!

  16. I can't wait to hear what you think about Disney! My heart is still so full from the WDW Marathon two weeks ago. You'll love it! BE SURE TO SUBMIT PROOF OF TIME or you will be in the last corral. Don't think of it as a race, think of it as a fun run with sweet swag and costumes and you'll really enjoy it. I want to help you eat all this pasta. #carbloadingforlife....YES!
