Weekend Updates featuring City Sports Baltimore, Blogger Brunch, and Minor Training Snags

I had a super busy weekend and am definitely feeling sluggish this dreary Monday morning. More coffee, please?

Friday I got in a quick run followed by ice cream from Harbor Market and then ran some errands.

I stopped by City Sports in Harbor East to grab a few things from their closing sale. Unfortunately that location is closing up (not relocating!) and everything was 20% off with sale prices marked. I got a Nathan water bottle waist pack that I had my eye on for a while and stocked up on more fuel including Honey Stinger vanilla waffles and energy gels.  Check them out and stock up on sports and running supplies while they are having the sale through the rest of the month!

Saturday I headed down to DC for a fabulous blogger brunch.  I popped into SculptDC for a 45 minute AM cycling class that definitely had me sweating.  It was my first time there and liked it because it was easy to get to from Union Station and had a $15 first-time drop in fee along with showers.

After getting cleaned up I headed over to Matchbox Chinatown for a nice blogger brunch hosted by the DC Trifecta ladies.  I was a little tired but loved chatting with local fitness bloggers and meeting new people. It was also awesome to finally meet hosts Mar and Courtney in person for the first time as well as see my fellow ZOOMA Annapolis ambassador Cynthia again!

I had a lovely watermelon lemonade cocktail to go with my crabcake eggs benedict. Thanks to Matchbox for taking such good care of us! On my way to meet up with a friend I treated myself to a little red velvet cupcake as well.

In case you were wondering, fitness bloggers know how to party and finish a pan of cinnamon rolls.

On my way back into Union Station to catch the train I had an unfortunate freak accident where I mis-stepped on the top of the escalator which would have resulted in a stubbed toe if I had been wearing sneakers, but in my Sanuk sandals resulted in the bottom layer of skin of my big toe being ripped up. Sorry for the gross details, but it left me immediately in tears re: running/training and some pain.  It looks awful but feels a little better today. I'm taking it easy and hoping I'll be able to get my long run in this weekend despite this snag with lots of Neosporin and bandaging this week. I also now am extra anxious about escalators.

Sunday I had a good friend's wedding which was lovely and outdoors at Sandy Point State Park.  I even got to dip my feet in the water & sand.

It was a fun day but the lack of sleep from being out late the night before, time in the sun, and busy weekend has left me drained.  There were also lots of burgers, beers, and treats consumed this week so I think I need a salad for lunch!

  3. Sounds like a blast of a weekend! Minus the accident :( I've always been afraid of escalators for that very reason. I love matchbox! I have definitely ordered the cinnamon rolls as my actual meal before... and finished them. No shame. Fingers crossed your toe heals quickly!!!

    1. Yeah I'm like never wearing sandals on an escalator again, at least for a while. Those cinnamon rolls were amazing.

  6. What a fabulous weekend with the blogger meet up. I know what you mean about feeling drained--I was more so tuckered yesterday because I didn't sleep at all on Saturday night.
Not so fabulous is the escalator mishap. Chop it off, you don't need it anyway!

  10. I wish I could do the blogger meet up things. I am probably the only blogger in my city and Houston doesn't seem to have many fitness bloggers. I'm on the lookout though. It looks like you had a great weekend. I didn't do much but hang around but it was nice.

Yikes, about the escalator. I hope it heals soon.

  11. Bloggers brunch sounds cool! There are a lot of you guys out there in DC. I think I follow all of you and I join in the Friday Link-Up as often as possible. Aren't closeout deals the best? I love my Nathan water bottle/cell phone holder. I never leave home without it!
