5 Friday Favorites 5/29/15 : Snack City {snacks I'm loving lately}

Whew, even with a shorter work week it still felt long so TGIF. This week has flown by and all I really feel like talking about are all the yummy snacks I've been eating.  I didn't pack lunches or plan meals this week (oops) so I did a lot of snacking! I'm joining the DC Trifecta Friday Five linkup since the topic was a freebie today. I stocked up on some food this week plus got a few surprises that I can't wait to share.

5 Friday Favorites: Snack City {snacks I'm loving lately}

1. Everything Watermelon

Even though it's still officially spring, with warmer temperatures post-Memorial Day it's been feeling like summer. That means I'm in the mood for one of my favorite fruits-watermelon! My parents hooked me up with a huge bag of watermelon chunks that no one at the house was eating (um, why?), and it disappeared last weekend before I could snap a pic, oops.  Also over the holiday weekend I enjoyed post-beach run Gundalow Juices in my new favorite summer flavor Watermelon Waves, which is watermelon juice with lime and mint. It's so refreshing and delicious.

Take me back to the beach!

2. Lesser Evil Wasabi Style Bonsai Popcorn

I seriously have more snacks and popcorn from Lesser Evil than I know what to do with. Seriously if you are in the Baltimore area and want me to share the wealth, message me!

This week they sent me their brand new flavor of popcorn-Wasabi style Bonsai. I love wasabi with my sushi so I was excited. My first handful tasted super spicy like whoa-they didn't hold back on the wasabi flavor at all! It has one a kick right off the bat, but the spice/heat doesn't linger or build in your mouth as you kept eating. After the first handful the spiciness wasn't as in your face. It's 40 calories per cup, non-gmo-, gluten-free, and delicious!

If you love wasabi you need to get your hands on this.

3. Double Chocolate Chunk Quest Bars

I've been a fan of Quest Nutrition for a while. Since I was away for the holiday weekend this week I  was pretty much putting meals together on the fly. These bars have been my favorite flavor for a while since I love chocolate. However this week they have been a lifesaver as part of lunches and snacks on the go. It's also especially great that one of the hospital cafeterias at work sells Quest Bars for when I'm in a pinch. Since they are on the pricier side, I went ahead and ordered a whole box from iHerb.com that arrived today.

4. Talenti Gelato

These are the best thing in supermarket ice cream right now. My boyfriend and I both love the salted caramel flavor, and I'm also partial to the mint chocolate chip. My mom had like 4 pints of gelato in her freezer because the local supermarket had been having a big sale on them. After indulging in various flavors over the weekend,my boyfriend snagged this chocolate peanut butter gelato on a quick trip to the grocery store. It has big peanut butter swirls and of course, tastes amazing. I've tried other brands of "gelato" from the ice cream section and nothing is as good as the Talenti pints.

Clearly I didn't remember to snag a photo until we'd already gone to town on this pint!

5. Nut 'n More Chocolate Peanut Butter

Clearly I love chocolate, haha. I've seen this brand of protein nut butter all over the interwebs but surprisingly am just trying it for the first time.  I won this jar from a giveaway on Lindsay's blog.  My boyfriend thought it tasted a bit gritty from the protein, so more for me. It does taste more chocolate protein-y than nut buttery, but I love the macros and it has been delicious on toast or with a banana pre-workout. And let's be honest, I have been eating a lot of spoonfuls right out of the jar.

What are some of your favorite snacks from this week? What's your favorite summer fruit?

  1. Talenti sea salt and caramel gelato is THE BEST. I could eat the entire container in one sitting haha. Also a huge fan of quest bars - please tell me you microwave them!? The chocolate brownie one microwaved tastes like a real brownie. Life changing!! Favorite summer fruit is frozen banana! So refreshing and healthy : ) Hope you have a great weekend !!

    1. THE BEST. I could too (unfortunately!). Of course I microwave them. In the winter, I'd even put them in the oven or broiler for a couple of minutes-YUM.

  4. TALENTI for the win. I'm slightly obsessed with ice cream. Love love love :) Although, I like eating ice cream when it's cooler (or with the AC on) so that it doesn't melt.

    1. I love ice cream too! Usually I eat it fast enough that melting isn't a huge problem :)

  5. I love Quest Bars. SO high in protein and low in sugar. You just don't see that enough in these protein bars. The popcorn sounds amazing. I am going to have to give that a try. Have you had Wild Friends PB? It's not high protein, but it's the bomb. I love the vanilla espresso flavor -- you should check it out.

    1. I agree-that's why I like it especially because I don't like packed shakes or protein powder that is not in a smoothie really. I have tried Wild Friends PB, and it was that espresso flavor. It was so yummy. Only certain stores here carry it though!
