Thursday Thoughts 1/8/15

I have lots of random thoughts floating around so joining Amanda's Thinking Out Loud linkup sounded perfect.

1. Obligatory comment about the cold and how it's awful it is.

2. What is not awful is your boyfriend convincing you to go to Dooby's in Baltimore for dinner since your apartment is freezing, and there's snow on the ground after the city's first substantial amount of snow on Tuesday. I am convinced that ramen (or pho!) is the best meal to cure the winter blues, especially when it's Ramen night at Dooby's and a free draft is thrown in the mix.

I devoured all of this leek and mushroom ramen and drank all the warm miso broth-it's good for the soul.

3.. Yesterday was a fabulously freezing November Project  workout with snow and ice still all over Baltimore.  When you get up at 6 AM to run down to the Inner Harbor to get your fitness on outside with a bunch of other people and have lots of fun doing it, you know you are officially crazy and hardcore.  I, however, seriously couldn't feel my fingers on my run back to my apartment and it took me a while to thaw out.

Yes, NP_BAL snow angels happened.
Any coffee and hot chocolate vendors want to sponsor NP-Baltimore for the season? Anyone?  Bueller?

4.  I recently upgraded my crappy waffle maker that finally broke for a much nicer rotating Belgian waffle maker my dad got for a steal on Black Friday for me.  I've only used it once, but I see a lot more waffles in my future.

5. I thought after the holidays things would slow down a little but there isn't an end in sight. A set tasks, party invites, and to-dos have just been replaced by others. My schedule is still pretty full and planning the spring with races, possible trips, work and weekend activities is overwhelming. I need to have a serious date with my planner (no pun intended) and try to map things out. On a positive note, there is the possibility for many good things to happen this spring!

6. Post-holiday unpacking is one of the worst kinds. I returned home after a week away with way more stuff then I left with. I finally got to unpacking all of my gifts and things which had been lingering in bags in my living room and feel very blessed. I'm happy to have a lovely holiday with my family and people that I care about.  I also received many nice gifts including some things I really wanted.

Here are some of  my favorite gifts received:

1. Personalized leather wrap bracelet that reads Breathe Deeply and Smile-how fitting!
2. A Kate Spade bag that I've wanted for a while which I alerted my mom to when it was on sale with an extra 30% off online! I save Santa money, totally on the nice list.
3. R2D2 socks. Enough said.
4. The Skinnytaste cookbook which will probably be my go-to for easy dinners.
5. Flashy and amazing printed Fila running tights from Kohls

How do you deal with cold temperatures? What was your favorite gift you received this holiday?

  5. We went to Dooby's a few weeks ago! It was pretty good! I only got a burger though... so it's hard to mess that up haha and I am with you on hot chocolate companies sponsoring NP... I'm thinking 7-11 since they have the best around, IMO. Can we please run soon?! Preferably when it's not -15*F.
