Goals for 2015 {and looking back at 2014 in photos}

I had goals for 2014, and didn't complete all of them. I find it not to be a failure, as it's always nice to strive for big goals, things change, and reflection & inspiration isn't wasted.  I did get to live more in the present, be bold, and travel more in 2014. I also definitely ate more greens and got a shiny new marathon PR in Chicago.

2014 was a great year full of many wonderful memories. My first relay race, travelling literally across the country for Hood to Coast with Nuun, applying to graduate school, growing my blog, running the Chicago Marathon, taking a trip to Boston, seeing multiple friends get married, having the confidence to apply for opportunities (with most of them panning out!), and taking a little bit more charge in my own life.

I'll also eventually get to doing my 2014 Year of Running review since it's a great way to look back.

For 2015 I'm still working on loving myself, being present, and taking an active part in my life.  Life has definitely taught me to fight for what I want and to dream bigger.

I'm going to share my list of general goals for 2015. I'll come up with some more specific fitness and life goals, I'm sure, but here are my overall reflections on how I want the new year to be.

1. Treat myself right.  I'm always a proponent of treating yourself and taking time for yourself, but it's a good reminder. Get your nails done for no reason. Buy yourself some flowers. Take time to unwind.

2. De-clutter and simplify my life. I constantly want to downsize the amount of things I have or things I feel I have to do. Simplifying life is a work in progress.

3.  Make everyday an occasion. I have outfits and jewelry that I think to save for special occasions, but then hardly get worn. What am I saving things for? I want to treat each day more special.

4. Travel somewhere I've never been before.

 5. Journal everyday. I received the One Line A Day book for Christmas which will be a great place to start!

 6. Read 1 book for pleasure each month.

 7. Be proactive, don't procrastinate. It's so easy to put things off and watch my to-do list grow each day. I want to tackle things, even if tough or unenjoyable, when I need to. I want to try to eliminate the stress from having to do things last-minute unnecessarily. I also want to continue to be proactive in living my life and making what I want in life happen.

8.(Repeat from 2014!) Take the time to try one involved recipe from a cookbook each month. Because some of those are seriously collecting dust on my bookshelf, and I enjoy taking the time to leisurely cook.

 9. Get my Boston-qualifying marathon time. This is the year!

 10. Feel good in your my own body and skin.  Find my body peace and learn to love what I've got to work with (with the help from Kasey and Heather's book I bought).

 11. Limit time on the internet and social media, especially during evenings. I'm tired of wasting hours scrolling through social media or in front of a screen!

 12. Be present each day and choose happiness. Pretty much my goal in life, but always a good reminder since it's easy to forget.

Do you have any goals or resolutions for 2015? What is your favorite memory from 2014?

  2. I NEED to de-clutter as well. I'm in total fear of becoming a hoarder. Looks like 2014 was a great year for you, good luck with all your goals this year!

    1. I'm thinking Chicago because it's so flat and I KNOWWWWW I can do it there. Also I am so ready to be done with training by Oct I don't think I can wait longer, haha. Philadelphia (you know) and Richmond are good course I heard for the full as well.
