How to Run with A Bulky Phone {Fit PlusWear Pants Review}

I'm featured on Sara's blog as part of her Bloggers on the Run series so check out my interview to find out more about me, my blog, and my favorite race distance!

As a young runner lady who runs around the bad streets of Baltimore (they're actually not that bad), I like having my cell phone with me. Even if I'm not listening to music, I'd rather take the gamble of bringing an expensive phone along so I have the option to call somebody if something happened to me or I got stuck somewhere. Or if I take an embarrassing spill miles away from home, you know, because that has never happened.

Sadly, I hate running with my phone. I have a fabulous but huge Samsung Galaxy phone that isn't easy to take along. I have a little fanny pack belt and an arm pocket, but it's still annoying with such a big and heavy phone.  It's bouncing around or weighing down my arm as I'm trying to get my run on. No bueno.

This is where the Fit Plus Wear Sound Solutions Capris come in. I was offered a pair to review and since I always give my honest opinions spoiler alert: these are AWESOME.

Disclaimer: I was given 1 pair of Fit Plus Wear Sound Solutions Capris to review from Fit Plus Wear on my blog. I received no other compensation for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own, as always.

Cindy and Heather started Fit Plus Wear due to their fitness frustrations as busy moms and working ladies as well as athletes who needed functional athletic wear. Besides the awesome product, I love supporting female-run businesses!

I was sent a pair of the yellow Sound Solutions Capris in a size medium. The pants are made of nylon but include some spandex so they are stretchy, moisture wicking and also antimicrobial.  They feel like the material is thicker and really durable (nope, not even a little see-through!).

The fit is snug, like compression capris and very slimming. My boyfriend even said I was looking thin after a sweaty 6 mile run when I made him snap a couple photos of me to show you how the pants looked on. Dinner was already in the oven so he had no reason to butter me up!

Holding my huge phone. Don't mind the mess on the floor!

The best part of the pants is on the inside of the capris is a sweat-proof, fall-proof pocket that you just tuck your phone or iPod into and voila! Hands-free running! No bouncy fanny pack or belt needed! The pocket and the stitching is really where you will see the color choice on the all-black capris.
I'm holding the little flap that goes over the pocket.
Even with the nifty pocket I was a little worried there would be some uncomfortable phone bouncing, but there wasn't! I even stuffed my keys in the pocket with my phone, and there was no jingling as I ran. The pocket also protects the phone from any sweat so don't worry, I ran on a hot & humid afternoon, and it was completely dry.

You can see a demo of the pocket and learn more about Fit Plus Wear here.

The price tag of $88 is more than I would pair for a pair of capris, but honestly nowadays that is pretty on par with big athletic retail companies like Athleta and Lululemon. It's worth it for the pocket!

The only thing I really don't like is that I only have one pair of these to wear!

Lucky for you, if you want to try your own pair of Fit Plus Wear Sound Solutions Capris you can use my code "2HE90CGR5Y4U" for 20% off ANY of the the Fit Plus Wear collections also including pants, tanks, or tees here .

Do you carry a phone or MP3 player when you run? Do you use an arm pocket or running belt?

  1. I love running waist pockets! I'm not high tech at all when I run and either stuff my phone in my workout waist pocket or in my sports bra! haha

    Great review!

    1. The bouncing is the worst-it totally keeps me from getting into my running zone!

  6. These pants are awesome! I'll be honest, sometimes when I am doing lighter activity I tuck my giant HTC One into my bra. Definitely not ideal, but I get sick of holding and other solutions just don't work for some of these larger phones. I will definitely have to check these pants out.
