Thinking Out Loud: Boston Recap

Since it's been a while-HEY I'm BACK, linking up with Amanda's Thinking Out Loud post is perfect for me to talk about random things from my little trip up to Boston along with lots of photos! I have lots of feelings about the marathon and various things so there will be multiple Boston posts!

1. Being back from vacation is one of the worst things ever. The only good thing is that my we did wash before we left so I only have to unpack a massive suitcase of clean clothes. We had some apartment issues while we were away so now I need to deal with repairs. Oh and dealing with a million emails and snail mail is always fun too. I need some coffee to get through work today!

2. I would totally live in Boston if it wasn't so cold/expensive. It is a fabulous city, and I can't wait to get back. I really loved all the marathon/runner love too.

3. I totally tried David's Tea for the first time and am hooked. My boyfriend was even obsessed with it. They need to open a location in Baltimore ASAP! I bought some tea to bring back so I'll be good for a couple of weeks :)

4. I drank lots of beer and ate lots of burgers and other non-green foods.  I pretty much had beer everyday-oh that vacation life! Visiting the Harpoon Brewery was super fun, and they do a great tour there! My body needs some salads and green juice in it's life today. Don't even talk to me about bikini season, haha.
Yes, we had the infamous burgers at Craigie on Main
enjoying some Harpoon IPA
5. I sadly didn't get to make it to November Project Boston while I was up there. I was too far out of the city and such to trek over. I was sad but with the different places we were staying it just wasn't happening. Oh well, I'll make sure to get there next time I'm around!

6. There was a few days of running involved, like when I ran the B.A.A. 5K (race recap to come!). I also got a couple nice runs in around the city-I swear everybody runs in Boston!

7. I went to the marathon expo and met a very special lady at the Nuun booth. There's more to come on that, but the expo was a runner's heaven.  I pretty much need to eat as cheaply as possible for the next few weeks to recover from vacation spending!
I loved this Brooks running shirt at the expo!
8. Watching the marathon was so inspiring. I'm super pumped to starting running more now that the weather seems to be consistently warmer.  After I catch up on my life, of course.
Marathon Monday had sunny and warm temperatures-I was glad I packed some watermelon Nuun!
9. Easter evening was spent at Fenway ballpark quietly cheering for the Orioles. I loved the classic, old-school feel Fenway captures. The Orioles lost, but it became an exciting game at the end. Having a hot dog and a beer for Easter dinner with my love ended up being the perfect night!

10.Getting away from everything felt so good. I pretty much unplugged, besides checking my emails in the morning or at night for anything that was time-sensitive.  It was really refreshing to unplug except for Google Maps directions of course (lifesaver!). It was great to eat out, enjoy time with the boyfriend, explore a new city, be inspired, sleep in, and not focus on work/school/obligations for a week before the craziness of May begins.

How do you ease back into post-vacation life? Do you unplug or reset every once in a while?

  8. Woohoo for a great trip! I've never been to Boston before, but it's definitely on my list of cities that I have to visit. I just wish it wasn't so far away! I'm over on the west coast of Canada so I don't make it out east all that often. I need to make a few exceptions, though. And coming back from vacation is the -worst-. The only good thing about it is being back in my own bed, kitchen, and bathroom. Eventually you get back into the swing of things, though.

    1. Ah yes, I'm on the east coast so it was just a bit of a drive. Being back in my own bed was the best part!

  9. Ahh - Boston is the best! I looooved Fenway; Laur and I silently cheered for the Jays a few years back (they lost). There is a Whole Foods down the hill behind the north end of Boston Common, food from WF for a picnic in the Common was one of my favourite ways to spend the afternoon.

  10. Sounds like an awesome trip! Its so hard coming back from vacation. If possible I like to talk a day off work when I get back just to adjust back to real life. I know that feeling of too many beers and burgers, not enough greens all too well...it seems to always happen when I go on vacation but I guess that means it was a good trip, right?:)
