Congrats to Ashley who won my Bakery on Main oatmeal giveaway!
Granola is a delicious snack or breakfast option, but I can't have too much of it in the house. If I buy a bag of it my boyfriend and I are going to finish it in a matter of days. I also make a mean peanut butter granola which I enjoy making from time to time.
Now granola always gets a bad rap because while it is always delicious, it is usually loaded with calories and sugar, has a measly 1/4 cup serving size of deliciousness, and isn't very filling.
When I went to Expo East in September (throwback recap one of these days?), of course there were lots of granola and cereal companies. However I tasted San Franola and was blown away not only by how yummy it was but by it's nutritional stats. They are also based out of San Francisco, a city I love, and had a super cute guy working their booth which helped. I was super excited to have San Franola follow up with me after the expo about doing a blog review & giveaway.
San Franola is a super delicious granola that isn't super sweet or sticky. What I love is that their freshly roasted granolas ALL have 10g of protein, only 5-6g of sugar, and 6g of fiber. The best part is that a serving size for only 150-160 calories is (wait for it) a 1/2 of a cup! The protein is my favorite part because it makes it a better part of a filling breakfast or snack. That is what makes it amazing in my book.
Their flavors include Cinnamon Almond, Ginger Snap, Lemon Zest, Toasted Chia, and California Raisin.
The granolas have short ingredient lists, are wheat-free, and natural ingredients with sweeteners including stevia, honey, and molasses. For example one of my favorite flavors, Toasted Chia, has the following ingredient lists and nutritional stats.
My personal favorite flavor was the Ginger Snap. It tasted just like those ginger snap cookies in the bright orange box they sell at the supermarket. I also really loved how this had lots of big chunks of granola and almonds in it, not little teeny tiny crushed up oat bits.

Ginger Snap granola on top of oatmeal with nut butter. This was had many mornings.
Cinnamon Almond granola with blueberries and vanilla almond milk as a snack
Toasted Chia granola with vanilla coconut yogurt, dried cranberries, chia seeds, and a spoonful of Sunbutter.
Finally, as a treat last weekend my boyfriend whipped up some amazing coconut chocolate covered strawberries for me. You need to make these next time you are craving a sweet treat! He made them by first dipping strawberries in melted semi-sweet chocolate chips followed by rolling them in a mixture he grinded up in the food processor that included unsweetened coconut, almonds, cashews, and Toasted Chia San Franola granola!
Right now San Franola can be found in stores like Whole Foods and Safeway on the west coast and are working on becoming available on the east coast. To find out more information, order granola online, or use the store locator, check out San Franola on their website or on Facebook.

ReplyDeleteOoooh! Granola is dangerous stuff! LOL...I think it is pretty cruel to have something so yummy and expect people to eat 1/4 cup! The stats on the San Franola look WAY better than most! If I could have nuts and/or whey...I'd be all over it! ;-)

ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to find another low-sugar granola out there. I feel like a lot of the ones I find locally have great ingredients and protein levels, but are packed with sugar! Adding granola to greek yogurt is definitely my favorite!
